Favorite Covers: July 2011

Here are some of my favorite covers for July 2011: The Flowers & Candy Edition

Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris
It's a zombie book with sugar coated lips on the cover! When I saw this cover reveal what seems like forever ago, my first thought was, "Whaaaaat?" and my second thought was "Awesome!" There is just something ironically amazing about a zombie book whose cover makes you hungry. How screwed up and fun (in perhaps a demented way) is that? The cover messes with my head, and I like it. I love the creepy black and white with the bright pink, sugary lips and the gooey looking pink font that reminds me of candy or icing. I want to put this book in my mouth.

Wildefire by Karsten Knight
Add images of wafting smoke to things I love. I like the darkness of all of the background lilies, and then BLAM! one of them is all aglow and fiery with smoke coming out of it. Much like a ticked off volcano goddess. Just sayin'. I think that this one is also going to be one of those covers that is velvety to touch, which I love and can never stop touching, regardless of how idiotic I look petting a book cover.

Supernaturally by Kiersten White
I really like the colors in the Supernaturally cover, especially in contrast to the model's light skin and hair. I love the deep reds of the sky that totally match Evie's dress, and harvest orange flowers and tiny slivers of olive green stems peeking out in front. The scene wraps around to the back of the cover, where the sky lightens to orange, and there are clouds and lightning everywhere. Lightning striking - add that to images I like. And of course it's got the blowing fabric, so that's a win for me.

Do you also like these covers? Are there any books that are released this month that you just have to have because you love the cover?
