Admittedly, I don't usually go for books that look like they focus on the romantic. I generally prefer books in which the romances occur in the background. But there are a lot of books that I've read that have some really cute, funny, and moving love stories attached to them.
My top ten love stories:
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - Yeah, but it's the obvious choice for a reason, people! Goodreads | Amazon
- Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - This contemporary romance is too cute and realistic to not be counted on this list! I love these characters. My Review | Goodreads | Amazon
- The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins - I'm sure a lot of people will include this one for Katniss and Peeta, or for Katniss and Gale if that's how they wanna play it. But I want to throw it up here for Katniss and Prim. There's no love like the sisterly love in these books. Katniss is unflinching and resolute in her love for Prim and would literally do anything to protect her. Goodreads | Amazon
- Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen - I could put all of Jane Austen's books up here, and I'm sure you'll all see a lot of them on people's lists today. But this one to me is so cute and different from her others. Henry and Catherine's relationship is so interesting, the way that he educates her rather than laugh at her or judge her. I also like that it might never have gotten off of the ground if Eleanor hadn't informed her blind brother that he had an admirer in Catherine. Goodreads | Amazon
- Delirium by Lauren Oliver - Curing of that pesky love disease. Tragic. Goodreads | Amazon
- The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander - This one is pretty subtle and innocent, since it's written for younger YA, but the relationship that evolves between Taran and Eilonwy throughout the books is too freaking adorable for me not to include it. Eilonwy is so freaking awesome, and even though a big deal isn't really made out of it, she and Taran both give up a great deal for each other. Goodreads | Amazon
- Just Listen by Sarah Dessen - Sarah Dessen is too awesome not to have on this list so I can't help but put this here, though really pretty much anything of hers could be put here and it'd be cool with me. Goodreads | Amazon
- Emma by Jane Austen - So I have a Jane Austen addiction. The thing I love about Emma is that the heroine starts off as so unlikeable and the hero criticizes all of her flaws but loves her anyway. The growth of Emma over the course of the novel is considerable as a result of Mr. Knightley's scolding. Goodreads | Amazon
- Paranormalcy by Kiersten White - What I like about this one is the accuracy with which the awkwardness and nerves of a budding teenage romance are portrayed. Evie and Lend are incredibly adorable. While reading their interactions, I couldn't help but smile and laugh. My Review | Goodreads | Amazon
- Unearthly by Cynthia Hand - The relationship between Clara and Tucker in this book is too cute for words. I love the immaturity of its beginnings and the way in which it grows. My Review | Goodreads | Amazon
