This week's question:
If you have or would have a daughter, which book would you want her to read?
Oh man, this is a hard one.  There are just so many.  I don't have a daughter, but if I did then I suppose it would depend on her interests as to which specific book I would choose, because I would want it to be one that would appeal to her and keep her interested in reading.  It would definitely also be something that had a message about being a strong woman in this world, as well as being a good person - maintaining self-respect, standing by her convictions and becoming someone she could be proud of and all that.  For the purpose of just answering the dang question, I suppose I couldn't really go wrong with Jane Eyre.

This week's question:
What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?

I would love to have my own library in my house - not like a study with bookshelves on one wall, but a large room dedicated to being a library with room for all of my books to be stored properly and room to grow.  And comfy reading spaces, of course!  Also, I'd like to have an unabridged OED in there.
Welcome to all of the new faces, and welcome back to the old ones!
This was a busy week for me and thus a slow one,
but here is some of what has been happening on my blog since last time:

  2. Found you through the hop, and I just became your 75th follower! A library sounds amazing. I'd love to have one, but seeing how I still live with my parents, I don't think it'll happen soon. Maybe someday :)

  3. I keep seeing Jane Eyre as an answer to the other hop.... I guess I probably should read that once I'm done with Wuthering Heights. I would LOVE a library, but I'll settle for a kid-proof bookcase!

  5. Definitely can't go wrong with having the OED. Also, love your Twenty Boy Summer review! I've heard nothing but good things about that book, but your review totally makes me want to go check it out. :]

  6. Old Foll. I have been saying I would have a daughter read the Handmaids Tale, but your response made me think again, Austen would be good to help a young woman understand different characters and diversity in those characters. Hmmmmm

  7. Seems like wanting a personal library is a pretty common theme.

For me, I know I'm in the vast minority here, but I have been channelling my zen side lately and thinning down my enormous book collection. I work in a library and have constant access to great books.

I've got it narrowed down to (mostly) one (very large) bookshelf now. It actually feels great! Makes me think of those old days when books were so precious and rare, people would carefully share them, and read and re-read the same book over and over.

An unabridged Oxford English Dictionary, eh? Is it bad that I prefer ninjawords.com?

  11. I feel like the only person in the world who hasn't read Jane Eyre...*crawls in a corner*
But aside from that, great minds think alike. Your reading hideaways sounds wicked sweet--but totally needs some guard dragons. Yes, you need some guard dragons. ;P
