Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend the court as ambassadors and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the peace treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.
Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift - one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.

ReplyDeleteFirelight by Sophie Jordan. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've read a book specifically about dragons, but I've got Firelight and Vanish on my shelf. I'm waiting until Hidden is out and then I'll read all the books back-to-back. :D
ReplyDeleteThose are still sitting on my shelf too. I'll go with your reasoning and say I'm also waiting for the third book to be out! Sounds better than "I'm a procrastinator with way too many books."
DeleteHaven't read a book about Dragons before. Seraphina sounds like a good read though. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not actually entering, because I have a copy already, but I wanted to drop in and say that I'm reading this one now and really enjoying it! I'm only about halfway through, but so far, I think it's a definite must-read for fantasy and dragon lovers!

It appears that I may need to do a suggested reading post about books with dragons. :)
ReplyDeletePeople don't seem to know that many!
I have read Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn, a while ago and it was pretty good though it left off on kinda a cliffhanger. Ms. Vaughn said that she was going to be doing a sequel to it. Seraphina though looks really good! Thanks for the chance at this great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteEragon, of course! But then again, that's the only one I've read...so far.
ReplyDeleteI am a Dragon, by Chinese astrology & in studying that-I thought, "why not read books with dragons in it?" This is year that I am trying different genres-perfect!
New to this blog, but wow, I will be back!
Thanks for the opportunity!
