The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
I love the sparse colors, sheer curtain fabric, and subtle brushwork on this cover. The model's expression is sort of haunted and curious at the same time. This cover creates a mood that matches the story and sets an appropriate tone for anyone who will pick it up and read the synopsis.

Witchlanders by Lena Coakley
I love the icy blue on the cover for this book. It radiates coldness, and the frosty little tree bits add imagery to that coldness. It took me a second to notice that the girl on the cover was even there, and I like the subtlety of it. The red cloth and the sword are very dramatic against the cool background. It's almost bloody, isn't it?

Possess by Gretchen McNeil
More trees on the face! This one looks like moonlight reflections in the water. Because of that, an eerie feeling accompanies this cover. It's like being alone in the woods at night. Dun dun dunnnnn! Effectively creepy and weird.

Do you also like these covers? Are there any books that are released this month that you just have to have because you love the cover so much? This August has a lot of awesome and beautiful covers.
I love the Witchlanders cover. I'm looking forward to purchasing a copy in the hopes that the finished version is somewhat shimmery.
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the Near Witch cover that much but I'm in love with the cover for Witchlanders and I think Posess looks really cool ^-^

Hey! I love the three covers you picked. I am not familiar with Posses and Witchlander but they are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI recently came across Envy by Gregg Olsen. I was immediately take with the striking dark green and blackish coloring. I don't usually go for suspense type mysteries but I think we may see this book grace my TBR pile come August 23rd. :)
Oooo! The cover of Posses has me very intrigued.
ReplyDeleteLacey, Katrina at Splinter did the Envy cover. She's so talented!
