Review Policy

Thank you for considering Mimosa Stimulus Reviews for the promotion of your or your clients' book(s)!

The focus of Mimosa Stimulus is primarily on young adult titles, fantasy novels, and books with crossover appeal.

I am happy to consider books for review and to host guest posts, interviews, and giveaways. I may be reached by email at mimosastimulus(at)gmail(dot)com. I do my best to respond to all requests in a timely manner, but it is not always possible to reply to every email.

What to expect from me:

I attempt to review each book in a timely manner, but I cannot promise that every title that I receive will be read and reviewed on the blog. If for some reason I am unable or opt not to post a review of a title, then I will make attempts to get it mentioned or featured in other ways (cover features, suggested or seasonal reading posts, etc.).

For books that are forthcoming, I will attempt to post my review within 2-4 weeks of its release date. If the book has already been released, then I will post the review as soon as possible - this is usually within 2-8 weeks, but may take longer depending upon my current volume of books for review. Should a specific date for the posting of a review be requested, then I will schedule the review to post at that time.

What to expect from my reviews:

My reviews are my personal, honest opinions and thoughts and are meant to aid others in making educated decisions with regard to their reading lists. I do not guarantee that my review of a book will be positive, but I do only accept for review books which I expect to enjoy. I am fair and truthful in explaining my opinions and rating. My reviews are spoiler-free.

I post my reviews on my blog, as well as on Goodreads and LibraryThing, and occasionally (or if requested) on Amazon and other websites. I also link to my reviews via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+.

My reviews include:

  • Cover Art
  • Book Details:  Title, Author, Publisher, Publication Date, and any other pertinent information such as series affiliation, etc.
  • Link to pre-order/purchase and to the book's page on Goodreads, as well as any other requested links such as author or publisher website
  • Summary, taken from (in order of preference) the jacket/cover of the book, the author/publisher website, Goodreads, or Amazon
  • My Personal Review & Rating

What I Read:

Series:
I will not read a series out of order. If you would like me to review a book that is part of a series which I have not yet read, then I would ask to also be provided with any necessary previous books in that series.

My Favorite Genres:
Adult/YA/MG Fantasy (especially High Fantasy)
YA Contemporary/Realistic Fiction
I also like:
Fiction: Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi/Speculative Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic/Dystopia, Steampunk, Supernatural/Paranormal, Historical Fiction, Mystery/Thriller, Horror, Retellings, Mythology, Verse, Literary Fiction, Classics

I occasionally read:
Nonfiction: Memoirs & Biographies, Literary Theory & Criticism
Self-Published or Vanity Press Books: I rarely accept self-published works for review. I will only consider a self-published book if it is professionally edited and falls into one of my favorite genres as listed above.
I do not read:
Erotica or Bodice-Ripper type Romances

Accepted Formats

I am happy to accept ARCs, galleys, finished copies, ebooks, and audiobooks. My ereader is a Kindle, so I require Kindle-compatible ebook files.

FTC Disclosure:  I do not receive monetary compensation for my reviews. Books that I review are either acquired via my own means, or are provided by an author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
