Favorite Covers: September 2011

Here are some of my favorite covers for September 2011: The Holding Things Edition

The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton
I like the depth of field in this one. The focus on the ring is really smart (and shiny)! I'm also a fan of the colors, the snow, and the font.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The cover of this one reminds me of one of those stop-motion animations that use paper or origami figures. I keep picturing it animate itself, crumpling down to leave and then reforming again as the circus. I can appreciate the whimsy of it. I also like the use of a simple font surrounded by fancy scrollwork.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Those of you who've followed this little series of posts know that I have a thing for underwater effects on covers, and this one is no exception. I love the soft image against the rougher darkness of the background in what appears to be a drowning rescue. It's both serene and eerie at the same time.

Do you also like these covers? Are there any books being published this month that you just have to have because you love the cover so much?

  1. I love that - The Holding Things Edition! But seriously, all of those covers are awesome! It's sad, but I've started adding books to my TBR just because of pretty covers...because they'd look pretty on my shelf. I have a problem. :D

  2. I love all three of these, but especially the Night Circus. I've been dying for this one!! Problem is, the UK cover is just as awesome, so when it comes down to buying it, I'll have to make a tough choice! Maybe if I read it and really love it, I'll cave in and buy both! :D

  4. I love the cover for The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, the others I don't like too much.

The covers I love this month are Retribution by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent, Fury by Elizabeth Miles and The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima though the only one of these I would probably be getting because of the cover is Fury the rest I am getting because of the authors and premise.
